Deputy Chair of Critical Care Nephrology Section
My name is Vesna Stojanović and I am pediatrician-nephrologist. My current position is Head of Intermediate Intensive Care Unit, at Institute of Child and Youth Healthcare of Vojvodina, Novi Sad, Serbia. I am associate professor of Pediatrics at the Medical Faculty in Novi Sad. I am President of Pediatric Association of Vojvodina and President of Pediatric Nephrology Active of Serbian Medical Association.
My fields of interests are: pediatric nephrology, especially neonatal nephrology and intensive care and therapy.
I am also very interested in research. My PhD thesis was in the field of experimental nephrology. In experimental work my fields of interest are early biomarkers of acute renal failure - KIM-1, NGAL, IL-18 etc., ischemia-reperfusion and damages occurring upon it. Now I work in an animal model of intrauterine growth restriction and examine renal glomeruli of these rats. I have published 48 works – 12 in Serbian and 36 in international publications.
My future plans for the CRRT/Renal section include research in the field of new biomarkers and creation of more precise definition for neonatal acute kidney injury as well as the improvement of the treatment of newborns with AKI.
