The ESPNIC Medtronic Research Grant

ESPNIC Medtronic Research Grant: to improve clinical outcomes in paediatric and neonatal intensive care units using advanced monitoring techniques (such as NIRS).

The intent of the grant is to provide support to the work of ESPNIC Members in the field of paediatric and neonatal intensive care with focus on advanced monitoring techniques. The research activities undertaken shall be with the active contribution of the applicant.

The award will be announced at the 30th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC 2019.

The grant in the amount of EUR 5'000.-  is unrestricted, yet with the purpose outlined above. 

Applications shall include the following information:

1. Applicant's CV

2. Project (Max 3 pages)

3. Letter of support from an ESPNIC member

4. Budget

5. Application form 

Application deadline: 1 May 2019. Winners will be announced at the 30th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC 2019) in June 2019

The ESPNIC neosim Grant

ESPNIC neosim Grant: to advance quality of care using simulation technology in continued medical education.

The intent of the grant is to provide support for young and talented physicians in their early career in the field of neonatal intensive care with focus on Simulation Based Continued Education (post-graduate). The research activities undertaken shall be with the active contribution of the applicant. The award will be announced at the General Assembly during the Annual Congress.

The grant in the amount of EUR 5'000.-  is unrestricted, yet with the purpose outlined above. Preference will be given to research which include the following topics linked to simulation in the field of neonatal critical care with the following topics: quality of care, outcome, cost, teaching methods, case review, automation.

Applications shall include the following information:

1. Applicant's CV

2. Project (Max 3 pages)

3. Letter of support from an ESPNIC member

4. Budget

5. Application form 

Application deadline: 28 February 2019. Winners will be announced at Award Ceremony at ESPNIC 2019 Congress in June 2019

ESPNIC Young Investigators Awards

The ESPNIC Young Investigator Award supports the development of research activities undertaken with the active contribution of the applicant. The specific intent is to provide support for young and talented physicians in their early career in the field of paediatric and neonatal and intensive care to present their research topic of their choice in front of a designated jury during an oral session at the ESPNIC Annual Meeting.

Up to 2 Awards will be granted.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this award, the applicant:

  • Must have an accepted abstract in the programme (Abstract Submission deadline: January 15, 2019)
  • Must be an ESPNIC member
  • Must be aged less than 40 years
  • Clear copy of ID indicating date of birth is to be included in the CV 
  • Content of the abstract must represent original work and not presented/ or published previously
  • Request for consideration must be made on the abstract form at the time of submission
  • The applicant must be the first author and presenting author of the submitted abstract

Judgment criteria will be based on:

• Scientific content
• Structure of the abstract
• Presentation
• Ability to defend the paper/results during question time from the audience onsite during the Congress

Abstracts will be selected for the Award during the abstract review. Selected applicants will be informed in advance and must confirm their attendance to the Meeting

Prize:

First Prize1200 Euro, complimentary registration and travel expenses covered up to 500 Euro to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting and one year complimentary membership
Second Prize800 Euro, one year complimentary membership, complimentary registration to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting 

* Prizes are awarded at the discretion of the committee and the decisions made are final.

Abstract submition - by 15 January 2019. Winners will be announced during the Networking event at the ESPNIC Annual Meeting, and will be presented with a certificate with a letter confirming their prize.

The ESPNIC Nursing Travel Fellowship Programme

A priority for ESPNIC is to promote quality neonatal and paediatric critical care nursing throughout Europe.   
ESPNIC is proud to announce the ESPNIC Travel Fellowship Programme to its Nursing members.   
This Programme is to promote, foster and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between ESPNIC Nursing members in Europe.

ESPNIC will provide travel fellowships to cover registration and travel up to 500 Euro for two ESPNIC nurses to attend the EAPS 2018 congress. 

Application deadline:15 September 2018

Application procedure

  • The applicant must be an ESPNIC nursing member for more than 1 year
  • The original documents (invoices), a copy of the congress confirmation form together with a detailed listing of all costs are needed for the transfer of the grant
  • The grant is open to an individual application only once in a three year term
  • Applications from current members of the ESPNIC EC will not be considered

Application deadline:15 September 2018. Winners will be announced by 1 October 2018
